Jack Kennedy Hi, I’m Jack Kennedy, your IPMS President. I have held this position for the past three years and I’m now running for Historian/Publications Director. Let me give you a little of my background in case you aren’t aware of it. I have been an active member of IPMS since 1980. I was President of the Long Island Scale Modelers Society on three occasions and have held every office in that chapter. In my tenure as President, we won regions 1 Chapter of the Year twice and National Chapter of the Year once. I had been on the National Contest Committee since it’s beginning in 1980 as the head figure judge and after a 3 year break I’m back in this position. After that, I was the Regional Coordinator for Region 1 for 9 ½ years. Following that I was elected to the IPMS E-Board as Director of Local Chapters. I held that position for 4 years and in 2005 I was elected to the office of President of IPMS/USA. During my tenure as President we have seen a new and improved Journal that we may all be proud of. We have instituted the Adult Building Course and we are implementing a revised plan to make amendments easier to pass. In addition we have revised the process by which chapters may renew their charters. When I say we, I am of course giving credit to the whole E-board that I have under me. Without our team effort, none of these improvements would have been possible. One of my goals if elected to the position of Historian /Publications Director is to make all past Journals, Quarterlies and Updates available to the membership via the Journal and/or our website. In my tenure as President I have developed a very good working relationship with the editors of our new Journal that I would like to continue in this new position. On a personal note, I have, with a few other IPMS members, formed a chapter in Northern Arizona. Since I moved to Sedona almost four years ago, I have felt that this fine state needed more than one chapter. We have based this chapter on the premise that we will have fun. We have no dues or officers and have a show and tell, clinic and swap ‘n shop each meeting. No politics are allowed. I have
been very proud to serve IPMS in many capacities and look forward to being
elected to this position so I may continue to serve the society that I
love. |
