So it was with great anticipation that his first photo CD would be worth the wait. Ray did not disappoint. The Nimitz Class Carriers photo CD includes 100 photos of the USS Nimitz, Dwight D. Eisenhower, USS George Washington and the USS John Stennis. The CD comes signed and numbered by Ray to verify the authenticity of the CD from a pirated copy. None of the photos have never been published before, and concentrate on details that would be important to ship modelers. All images are PDF files, so Adobe Reader (free from Adobe.com) is necessary to view them. There is no index or thumbnails, so that makes navigating the CD a little tedious. One really nice feature is that the photos are large, making it possible to zoom in on any section. There is a mixture of halftone (B&W) and color photos and all are clear and sharp except for some minor blurring on the outside edges of some. No photos of the air wings are provided because Ray wanted to concentrate on the ships. Conclusions: With the new Trumpeter Nimitz now on the market, this is a must-have for anyone building this kit. One could easily spend $75.00 or more for books with this many quality photos, so the $17.50 price tag (includes postage in the continental US, e-mail for overseas quote) for this many photos is reasonable to say the least.
