This hardbound book is the latest offering from AIRtime Publishing and covers all the operational jets of the 1950’s and 1960’s Century Series fighters:  F-100, F-101, F-102, F-104, F-105, and F-106.  Each aircraft has a separate chapter and each is given thorough coverage in the 288 glossy pages in a large 9X12 format.  The usual sequence for each fighter starts with its developmental history and technical data, then ends with its operational service.  Coverage is full of detailed information and there are numerous photographs, most in color, along with the text.  There are also full-color three-view drawings, as well as cutaway drawings for each aircraft. In the “Operators” portion for each fighter, the authors list the various countries with individual squadrons that flew the particular aircraft.  In addition to pictures of each squadron’s aircraft, there are serial numbers, tail markings, and squadron patches in this section. The weapons each aircraft employed are also covered in detail.  A couple of the fighters also have side-view drawings for the different variants that were manufactured.   The F-100 chapter has the added bonus of a short history and two color pictures of the F-107.  Overall, this is a great reference for these aircraft and the detail photos and drawings are a tremendous help to the modeler.

If you were a subscriber to AIRtime’s Wings of Fame magazine and their International Air Power Review, you’ll recognize the coverage of these aircraft.  The articles for each fighter appeared verbatim in previous issues of these publications, as noted by the editor in the beginning of the book.   If you have these issues, as I do, this book is redundant.  However, if you do not have these magazines or simply want all this information in one volume, this is a worthwhile book and one I would recommend.  You can order it from AIRtime publishing by calling 800-359-3003 or visiting their website at www.airtimepublishing.com.
