Specialty Press X-15 Photo Scrapbook By Tony R. Landis and Dennis R. Jenkins By Reviewer John R. Lee, #11172 |
These two authors have previously written
several books including, Hypersonic, The Story of the North American X-15
and in their research and collection of photos, diagrams, and
miscellaneous charts etc they acquired much more than could be used in
Hypersonic. The end result came out in the historians and modeler’s favor
with another fine book on the X-15. This book is printed on high
quality glossy paper stock with card covers. In a nine by nine inches
format. In the One Hundred Eight pages there are over Three Hundred Fifty
very sharp b/w and Fifty color Photos with amazing detail of the many
configurations that the X-15 ended up in. There is very little text other
than the introduction and the captions vary from short to in-depth detail
of each photo or drawing. If a modeler wanted to open up the 1/72nd
Monogram X-15 (Kit #5908) and detail it inside and out this is the book to
aid your endeavors. Several of the pictures in this monograph are of the
carrier NB-52As in several different schemes with the X-15 hanging off the
right wing. This would enable you to build the carrier combination using
the 1/72nd Monogram/Revell kit. Interestingly there are several
still images from the motion picture Project X-15. The X-15 Photo Scrapbook can be obtained for $16.95 directly from Specialty Press by calling 1-800-895-4585 or by visiting www.specialtypress.com. A $4.95 shipping and handling charge is added to each order. My thanks to Karin Hill at Specialty Press, IPMS/USA and John Noack for the review copy. |
