AFV Modeller Magazine

One of the more interesting Modeling Magazines to cross my workbench is the AFV MODELER MAGAZINE Issue #14, from England.

The Cover Feature is the CROMWELL MODELS 88mm Flak 41 Gun.  The Article/Diorama by David Parker.  The pictures of the assembly and real deal at Aberdeen is most informative and interesting.  There's nothing like showing pictures in progress to make anyone a better modeler.  This takes you step by step during the build and especially the well planned diorama construction including several figures and extras.

One of the more interesting technique articles is the enjoyable submission by Chris McGrane, titled "EXTREMES OF WEAR AND TEAR."  This is the most enlightened article in some time on how to get THE LOOK of a AFV in service/battle.  Beginners will find this very helpful and achieve "professional" results with a little practice.

Julian Dace produces another winner with a great article on improving the ALAN 1/35 Panzer IIJ.  This would be very welcome to anyone contemplating or owning this kit already.  Just going over this is enough to break into mine right NOW!!!

Included in this issue is a section titled "Xtreme Detail."  This Section features some wonderful color shots of the M88A1 Recovery Vehicle.  Other articles in this Issue include a very nice build of the DRAGON "Hornet/Nashorn".  I would highly recommend this to anyone building the kit.  It is loaded with information during the construction process and painting.  OUTSTANDING build for the WWII Modelers out there!

The Conversion feature is a SDKFZ 251/22 using the TAMIYA kit and CMD Conversion.  I love the look of a German Half-track mounting a Pak40 Gun.  It's an easy build, but still tough enough to have some experience behind you.

This Bimonthly Publication should be a must for all AFV Modelers (hence the name :)).  The quality of the publication is most surprising and is more suited to a school textbook.  This could easily be one of your top three or four "go to" reference materials/books when building one of the kits included in any of the Issues.  I'm hooked...........and you should be too and soon.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and Thanks to AFV MODELLER and John Noack for the review sample.
