MSRP: $10.00 USD Did you ever go to a contest and see one of those huge 1/32 Phantoms looming on a table? Ya
gotta love ‘em! This sheet of decals (actually 2 sheets) will give the modeler an opportunity to stand out
from the usual contest crowd with a few historically significant options. The 2 perfectly registered sheets
allow markings for 2 F-4E Phantoms from the Vietnam era:
- F-4E # 68-339, as flown by COL J.D. Pewitt
- F-4E #69-7551 as flown by LT John Gallagher & LT
Don Logan
You may have heard of COL Pewitt, or his Phantom; “Chico the Gunfighter”. Featured in one of Wade Meyers’
gorgeous paintings (for which a 20% discount is offered with this decal sheet) it is the “FAST FAC” strike/fighter
plane Pewitt flew on missions over Viet Nam, and was the only Phantom configured for the Mk. 20 “Rockeye”.
Author Don Logan, a POW for a period during 1972-1973, was shot down over SE Asia in the A/C represented here.
A history of this incident, in detail, is printed on the accompanying reference sheet. For the Dallagher/Logan
plane, decals also include markings for the unconfirmed MiG kill associated with their tour. So here’s what
you get:
- “What’s out there?” kit recommendations
- 1/32 Tamiya and Revell kits
- KMC detail sets
- Legend Productions cockpit
- Cutting Edge, CAM, and Eduard detail sets
- Decals for two aircraft
- Color markings and stenciling on 2 sheets; one
larger one for the markings, and a smaller sheet that carries the stenciling
- 7 “Walkaround” type photos of F-16B/Cs in the
featured colors
- 2 top and bottom-view line color line drawings
to assist with placement and painting
- 4 color plates (port and starboard views) to
assist with placement and painting
- 20% discount on Wade Meyer’s “Chico the
Gunfighter”.
- Color callouts for Testor’s, Gunze Sangyo,
Xtracolor, and Xtracrylics
Be advised that the Shark Mouth decals included with this set were engineered for the Tamiya model, but will fit
the Revell Phantoms with just a little bit of touch-up painting. This set comes highly recommended! My
sincere thanks to John Noack, 1st VP IPMS/USA, and Bob Sanchez from Twobobs Aviation Graphics for allowing me to
