There’s nothing like the real thing, so Cutting Edge based this set on a conversion from IPMS member and former Kiowa pilot, Floyd Werner.  The completely new doghouse engine cowling, with ducted air inlets, enables you to build Academy/MRC’s 1/35 Kiowa kits the way they appeared during, and since, the Bosnian war.  If you want to build an Operation Iraqi Freedom OH-58D, the Engine Barrier Filters they used are also included.

The set provides parts so you can replace the kit’s oversimplified ALQ-144 mount, as well as the option to delete the ALQ-144 altogether.  It also includes the APR-39/V-2 Radar Warning Receiver antennas, the tail boom GPS antenna, pilots’ armor plates and other small parts. The resin pour stubs are easily removed but follow the simple instructions that come complete with drawings and photos, making it clear what goes where.  As an extra bonus the photos give you the subdued markings of a Kiowa Warrior with the 1st Air Cavalry’s own 7th Cavalry's “Garry Owen” Regiment.

If you want an improved and accurate OH-58D 1/35 Kiowa Warrior, you’ll want this Cutting Edge set!  My thanks to Meteor Productions for the review sample.  Order yours from Meteor Productions (www.meteorprod.com) P.O. Box 3956, Merrifield, VA 22116 Tel: (703) 440-8720.
