From Meteor Productions comes a great little improvement set for the Trumpeter F-105G kit. I have shown the difference in the picture showing the outline of the kit part and the Cutting Edge replacement. The tail on the Trumpeter kit is a little off in the rake, size of the rudder and width of the entire tail. The Cutting Edge set corrects this with a three-piece replacement tail comprised of a new rudder, tail and small piece for the front inlet. The set is made of Meteors gray resin that is great to work with and the first task is to remove these from the casting blocks. I used a razor saw to get close and sanded away the rest. The rudder fits great and I used a slight amount of putty to fair in the small front inlet. The engraved lines are top notch. A side-by-side comparison of the kit and Cutting Edge parts is also shown. One thing to remember is that the resin tail will add weight aft and this will necessitate more nose weight being added to compensate. In conclusion, this is an easy replacement set made to Meteor’s high standards that will fix the shape differences in the tail of the Trumpeter kit. In addition to this, Meteor also sells part #CEC32154, a resin exterior correction set. The two together will make a good kit even better. Recommended! |
