MSRP: $16.95 USD
I purchased the 2003 Cadillac Escalade kit as a basis for a D.A.R.E. police unit. It just had the right look for a vehicle
that would be confiscated from a drug dealer. There is virtually no flash on any of the kits 112 parts molded on thirteen
sprues, which are molded in white, black, clear red, chrome, clear and tinted clear. FINALLY - a kit manufactured with tinted
clear windows!
The instructions are broken into nine steps with seven sub-assemblies. A nice touch is that the taillights are molded in both
clear and clear red - the red having a cutout for a clear insert for backing lights. The kit is actually a curbside, as there
is no engine or under hood detail. The kit includes several options; custom Dayton (Radial lace RWD) or six-spoke style
wheels; third row seating or quad-speaker box; custom or stock grill. Special features include metal exhaust tips, XM radio
and On Star antennae. The rear window wiper, the side interior wall/doors and all doors handles area molded separately - which
eases painting. The kit also includes two metal axles, but no wheel backs.
The decal sheet, which is a bit thick, contains twenty-five decals. Included are decals for the following:
Flames for the hood and both sides, wood grain for the interior doors, center console and radio panel.
Two Cadillac emblems for the front grill and tailgate.
Instrument and dash controls.
Four speakers.
"Escalade" markings for the sides.
Oil filter marking.
Two different license plates - IL vanity tag and a dealer tag.
Sun visor warning.
Four reflectors for front and rear.
In conclusion, this is a nice kit for either the novice or the modeler who wants to pimp his/her ride. I'll try and
follow-up with a build review. |
