This is the second Model Art magazine I have reviewed.  Some great pictures and some excellent models and I can’t read hardly any of it.  Almost the entire magazine is in Japanese except for a few titles to some of the articles.

I imagine that if you can read Japanese, these magazines are full of great information on building the kits.  But for me, the pictures do tell the story.

This issue starts out with a set of articles on “The Genealogy of the Soviet KV Tank Series”.  Four center on the KV-1 using 3 of the new Trumpeter kits and 1 of the old Tamiya kits.  This is followed by 2 on the KV-2 again using the new Trumpeter kits.

The last build is done into a nice little vignette depicting painting a little artwork on the side of the turret.  I really liked this one as it shows a peaceful moment.

Next up is a tour of the Trumpeter factory, at least, that is what I think it is.  It shows several pictures of injection molding machines, people packing boxes with parts design areas (sorry, didn’t glean any new ideas as to the next kits from here).  This is another article that would be more interesting if you could read it.  I may have to see if I can find someone to translate some of this.

A nice build of some type of Japanese cargo ship from WWII in 1/700 scale but I cannot find a name for the ship in English.  Definitely something different.

A continuing series (at least in the two issues I have seen) concerns modeling the JASDF.  This one centers on 48th scale missiles and includes some nice color photos and drawings and includes some nice detail pictures so you can detail up the latest load for your F-2.

Several aircraft models are featured including the Dragon Arado Ar234P in 72nd scale, the Hasegawa 48th scale Kawanishi NiKi-Jb Shinden, and the Trumpeter 32nd scale Mig-29M Fulcrum.  This last one is a nicely detailed model.

Another ship model in 700 scale, this one of a more warlike nature.  This one is the Skywave JMSDF DDG-171 Hatakaze Missile Destroyer.  This one builds up into a nice looking ship.

Three autos are next starting with the Hasegawa Datsun Fairlady 240Z 1971 Sarari Rally Winner in 1/24th scale.  The Tamiya Porsche 911 Turbo ’88 in 24th scale is built with an interesting goldtone finish and a 43rd scale GT2R by I don’t know who but looks pretty neat in Dutch markings.

The rest of the magazine is devoted to new products, advertisements and some other stuff that could go either way.

Another interesting magazine with some great photography and some great builds which would be even better if you can read Japanese.

Thanks to Model Art for supplying the issue.
