I've seen a couple issues of ModelArt magazines before and was impressed with the quality of the pictures and depth of coverage of the particular subject matter. So, I was looking forward to seeing this particular edition. As this magazine originates in Japan, all the text is in Japanese. When looking at photos of model detail, the text isn't always needed to get some benefit from the picture. Unfortunately, this is not the case here.

There are seven chapters dealing with different modeling problem areas and each chapter has several "case studies" to illustrate fixes, tools, and special products. I can't translate the chapter titles, but from the photos, I surmised they relate to the following:

1. Broken pieces, surface detail problems, scratches on clear parts
2. Painting problems
3. Decal problems
4. Using photo-etched and metal parts
5. Model problems related to specific models of an F-14, RF-4C, and a late 1950's (I think) pink Cadillac
6. Various modeling products and tools
7. Airbrushes and some airbrushing difficulties

Though the pictures are interesting and offer some clues to what's going on, you need to read Japanese to really benefit from this magazine. It would have helped tremendously to have an insert written in English. There are some products shown here that look to be very useful, I just don't know what they are. Unless you can read Japanese, I would recommend you look to several of the other "how to" publications on the market to help solve your modeling problems. This issue is for a Japanese language audience only.
