Say hello to a brand new publication brought to us from fellow modeler and IPMS/USA member, Jeff Herne. As most of you will remember, Jeff was formerly Associate Editor of FineScale Modeler Magazine. This magazine is printed on heavy glossy stock, has an excellent and easily readable format and is a most welcome addition to the growing list of reference pubs for the modeler. In his premiere editorial, Jeff puts across not only his thoughts on the hobby, but an outline of his objectives as well. This issue is comprised of 48 pages, but subsequent issues will be 96 pages in length. The articles contained within are well written on various subjects, and I am sure will be helpful to the novice or the old greybeards like myself, who are never too old to learn a few new tricks.

This issue contains articles on an absolutely gorgeous 1/72nd Tamiya F4U Corsair, Tamiya's 1/48th scale Hetzer, a show report from Euro-Mlitare 2006 and a build article by the Editor on that MONSTER 1/72nd scale GATO class sub from Revell/Monogram. Other assembly and photo essays are included and the quality and color reproduction are absolutely outstanding. If you have the opportunity, be sure to pick one of these issues up. I am sure you'll find it most informative as well as enjoyable. Following issues will all contain 2 aircraft articles, 2 on armor and at least one each covering figures, ships and sci-fi subjects. Jeff tells me he'd also like to include some car models in the magazine, but needs to hear from some of you auto modelers willing to submit photos and text.

The magazine will be published six times yearly. Newstand priced at $ 7.95 per copy with annual subscriptions selling for $ 45.00 US. Jeff tells me that Model X will be in attendance at the upcoming IPMS/USA Nationals in Orange County California in August.

I join the rest of the membership in wishing Jeff great success with his bold new venture. Visit their website at www.modelx.com for more information.

Highly recommended.
