OK, let me start with the easy part.  This is a new company, rising from a former decal maker who printed the decals on a computer printer.  BISON does the research, does all the art work, but the decals are printed by Micro Scale.

The results are outstanding.  Great registration, good colors, fine details.  The decals go on just fine using the Micro Scale System, with Micro Sol & Micro Set.

More easy stuff.  The sheets cover the subject.  It’s possible to build 11 different British Cruiser tanks, 9 different fireflies (including a DD with the fording curtain), 17 different recce vehicles, 10 different British TD/SPs and 34 (!) different vehicles from the Balkan wars.

Another fairly easy part.  The decals come with very complete instructions, with pretty good drawings.  I was pleased to note that the artist sometimes says that the photos the markings were taken from were not high quality, and there is a possibility for error.  Nevertheless, the sources are noted, so the builder can make his own judgments about accuracy.  Other than not having the books, and some dead links on the Internet, the info checked pretty well.

OK, now the more difficult parts.  I have built up a pretty good stash of small armor kits through the years, and haven’t built that many.  But of the 81 possible models, I had the kits to build 7.  5 x T34-85s, or 2 x M-36 Jacksons, all from the Balkan conflicts.  So the T-34 it was.  I did find most of the other kits at VLS (www.modelmecca.com).

If I was going to do the above model one over again, I would have checked the BISON web site.  He has color profiles of all the vehicles and markings for the Balkans set in color.  The others are black & white versions of the included art work, although it’s easier to read on the monitor.

Overall Evaluation: Look for markings which interest you.  Check the web site.  If they have one you want to do (One Firefly is supposed to be the one which knocked out Wittman’s Tiger.) then by all means BUY these decals.  You won’t be disappointed.  Good research, good quality, and interesting off the beaten path subjects.
