Pak- Decals and Details Brand is a newcomer to the modeling scene. They supply decals in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/35 scales from WWII to present. This review covers two sets supplied by Pak-Decals - PAK 002 German Tanks Division Markings, Part 2, and Pak-35-003, Part 3.

PAK 35002: The decal sheet is accompanied by a black and white sheet with examples of placement options for the various decals. Illustrated are placements on a Panther Ausf G "Grossdeutchland" Russia 1944, and a Sturmgeschutz III Ausf F/48, Grossdeutchland Russia 1943. The reverse side of this sheet carries the decal numbering key and application instructions. The decals are nicely printed, vivid colors and accurate registration. There is little carrier film outside the printed area of the decal. The numbers, red with white outline, are especially well done, having the appearance of in-scale stenciling or hand-application as was found on the real thing. Too many AFV decals are just too perfect to really get the feeling of numbering in the field, which was the norm during the war. There are also four different types of national insignia represented on this sheet. There is a key and numbering issue that you have to pay attention to. The key is numbered 1 through 42, but on the decal sheet, divided into two sections of markings (left and right sides) of 36 markings per section, the numbering system goes astray, differing from the key, and there is a basic numbering mistake. There are two #12 decals (not the same marking). Same for #'s 30, 31, 32 and 33. This isn't as bad as it may appear from my attempt to describe it. I was easily able to tell which decal matched which key description without reference to other sources.

PAK 35003: These decals, National Insignia, are accompanied by a heavier, color sheet showing sample placements of insignia on different vehicles - Tiger I, Sturmgeschutz, Sd.Kfz. 251 and other 'half-tracks'. Each of these vehicles are marked with "A", "B", etc. The Sturmgeschutz is "F", for example. There is no correlation between the letters on the decal sheet with these vehicle examples. "F" on the decal sheet are open balkencruz with thin white outlines, not shown on the picture of the Sturmgeschutz which sports the Insignia National "Tasrista" Ejercito Bulgaro de 1941 - A white square with a black "X" from corner to corner.

Again, the decals themselves are numerous and well executed and represent twenty-six different national insignia of German and Axis vehicles.

Numbering and key issues aside, these are very nice decals, and are recommended.

Thanks to Pak Decals and IPMS for the review items.
