1/32 Su-27 Flanker Modification Parts

Reviewed By Steve Dottavio, #39681

Chris Wilson, a.k.a. Zactoman of Zactomodels, is producing some really sweet parts for the 1/32nd scale Trumpeter SU-27 Flanker.

First up is a nose cone.  Hollow cast in white resin, the cone replaces the kit cone that is misshapen.  Zacto’s cone is longer and has a different taper to the base of the pitot tube.  Also included are 2 resin pitot tubes and 2 pieces of thin styrene to make IFF antennas and vortex generators.   Pricing on this great offering is $17.00 plus $4.00 S&H.

The next work of art is the canopy.  Chris gives the modeler a vacuum formed convex/contoured canopy. 13 cast resin parts, photo etch mirrors, plastic rods and screen print acetate plastic placards make up the rest of the parts.  The detail on all the parts is superb.  What I really like about the canopy is that the IRST pod on the nose is a separate piece which is great for someone to upgrade the Flanker by moving the probe to the left side of the windscreen.  This modification is what I’m planning on doing with my Flanker. I will also be adding a partial Aires cockpit with a scratch built upgraded instrument panel.  The price for the canopy modification is $ 30.00 plus $4.00 S&H.

Chris is also working on a set of intakes for the SU-27.

These and other products can be seen on his website, www.zactomodels.com.  As soon as this huge beast is completed, I’ll be sending images of the finished product for your viewing pleasure!
