MSRP: $41.00 Web Site: www.aires.cz/en/ The Hasegawa 1/32nd scale Bf-109K is a very nice kit. The biggest problem is the cockpit (and the squared off spine). The kit provides a Bf-109G style cockpit not the unique K cockpit. Aires newest cockpit set consists of five blemish free light grey resin pieces, one clear resin instrument panel, a fret of photo etch and a piece of clear acetate. The instructions are straight forward and very easy to understand. This is especially important when dealing with the complicated seatbelts. All the unique K model traits are included on the side wall and floor detail. A cylinder near the throttle stood out to me but after checking references it belongs there. The level of detail is exquisite. There is no cutting required to fit the cockpit in the model. Of course you will have to remove the pour stubs from the parts themselves but they are all easy cuts. |
The clear resin instrument panel is going to require some care to build but will look great. You will need to add masking solution to the glass lenses and then paint and weather as normal. The clear acetate will go behind the resin and look great after painting the back white. The photo etch parts have very fine detail and are thoughtful to use where they are appropriate. What I mean is flat pieces represent flat items. The only real folding is the seatbelts and the rudder pedals. Highly recommended Thanks to Aires for the review copy.
