Aires is well known for their finely detailed resin accessories and this new item does
nothing to change that reputation.
If you’ve built any of the 1/72nd scale F-15 Eagle kits available, you’ll know that most
have room for improvement either in detail or ease of construction (the Hasegawa kit has 7
parts for the for the nozzle and flanges alone). This release goes a long way towards
adding an excellent level of detail and, in many cases, easing the construction of the
exhaust nozzles for the Eagle without it’s tail feathers.

Aires solves the issues with assembling the multi-piece petals by casting these as one
complete assembly. The level of finite detail will really standout after some metallizer
and some washes, maybe even a little drybrushing. A little careful cutting with a razor
saw is all of the preparation required to allow this part to be attached to the canister.

The photo etched flameholders are another great example of the finesse of detail that can
be had using etch metal. Again, a couple of careful cuts and these are ready to attach to
the turbine blades.

Moving to the afterburner you again fine very nice detailing and yet another simple razor
saw cut (and maybe a little sanding) to get the part ready for assembly. The inside of the
canister has a nice representation of the ridges seen in the real things. Some simple
painting, and a wash or two, will bring out all of the highlights.
If you’re planning on, or even in the process of building any of the 1/72nd scale Eagle kits
available, I’d highly recommended adding this set of exhaust nozzles to make a great model
look outstanding!
A big “Thanks” goes out to Aires and IPMS USA for this highly recommended review sample.
