For the large-scale modeler, Eduard has released a 1/32 cockpit enhancement set for Tamiya F-15E Strike Eagle. This set consists of two frets; one is colorized and one natural metal. For those that haven't seen them, the colorized sets have superb preprinted details. The pre-colored set is also self adhesive- it has a sticky backing on it and is meant to stay where place. It comes on a special release sheet similar to wax paper.

This set deals with two areas, the cockpit and the canopy. For the cockpit, you get color replacement panels for all side instrument panels and both the front and rear panels also. These are multipart assemblies that require that the kit supplied parts be sanded smooth prior to use and then colored layers are put on to replicate the depth of the panel. Some folding is also required to get depth to some parts and get correct shapes. To replicate the relief of the switches on the side panels, Eduard requires 0.3mm rod be cut and trimmed and glued to the PE parts. Detailed maps are provided to show where the small bits of rod are glued. Breaker boxes, HUD details and sidewall detail are also replicated. For the canopy, there are more accurate canopy locks and details and new mirrors for the front.

This is a very detailed set for the large Tamiya kit. The pre-printed color is phenomenal and adds machine-like color to the instrument panel and sidewalls. Creating and adding the ~50 buttons to the set will be time consuming but will yield dividends.
Recommended to fans of the Mudhen!

My thanks to Eduard and IPMS/USA for the chance to review this beautiful set.
