Both of these sets dress up what is already an excellent kit. The cockpit set provides the "most needed" details, and the undercarriage set addresses some of the "chunky" bits.

First, the cockpit. A new seat and harness assembly are included; the sidewall details and instrument panel are addressed by the usual Eduard masters and has detail that a microscope can read. I am not personally enamored with the throttle and mixture levers; I feel the kit parts address these adequately. Also, the "T" handles are something I have yet to succeed in installing. That doesn't mean they can't be glued in place; what it DOES mean is the set is beyond the capability (and desire) of the reviewer to install. Rest assured, they are available if you are skilled enough to work them. The canopy open/close track and railing is provided as a fold-up item; I have opted not to use them, as the center rail was destroyed by an accident by yours truly. Sorry. K.L.U.T.Z.. It looked nice until I did my thing…

The landing gear detail set is relatively simple. The wells are provided with "scab-on" facades to the well walls, which definitely add to the already detailed main well area. Miniscule hydraulic lines, etc, are the highlights of this set. Wheel covers and doors are provided in sheet form; detailed on one side, with the other containing "locator marks" for the door interior structure to be glued to. Drag braces are also provided to replace the kit items. One interesting thing is the edge of the door interiors and ribs are provided as additional details. I, for one, have had extreme difficulty fitting them in place. The fact they are there is irrelevant; the alternate fact that some are able to not only see but utilize these bits are a testament to model makers who are truly artisans.

Hats off to Eduard for yet another magnificent effort in Photo-etch artwork; they are the kings of PE, in my opinion.
