Eduard has released two new sets for the 1/48 Tamiya He-219 Uhu. There are two types of offerings for the Tamiya kit- a full set and a Zoom set. Both sets have Eduard's excellent quality and also are colorized and are self adhesive.

Let's take a look at the Zoom set for the He-219. It consists of a single PE fret and is meant to provide details to the cockpit only. Included are a multipart preprinted instrument panel (which is beautiful), seat belts for both seats, side panel detail and a few small bits for the cockpit. The only cutting will be sanding down the side panels and instrument panel. This is a very quick and easy set which can add nice detail for a very reasonable price. Very little muss and fuss!

For those of us afflicted with a little more AMS (like me), you can upgrade to the Eduard He-219 Full PE set which contains four frets of PE. This set contains the same set as the Zoom and has the same cockpit detailing. It also adds more sidewall detail, new radio and radar faces as well as new side walls to the cockpit. Now the fun really starts. There is detail to all the wheel wells including rear bulk heads in the main gear wells. Brake lines are included as well as oleo's. There is a complete set of replacement parts for the radar and as an added feature, there are parts to build another variant of the radar not found in the kit. There are also details for the armored plate in the front of the cockpit and new engine radiators and actuators. Lots and lots of detail is included

Both of these sets are excellent and are recommended to those wanting to add detail to an already nice kit. Eduard gives you a choice as to whether to add a little with the Zoom set or a lot with the full set. I would also like to point out one very excellent part of the Eduard web site. Attached to every thing they sell are the directions on how to build or install it and they are downloadable as PDF files. This is superb.

My thanks to John Noack, IPMS/USA and Eduard for the chance to review these gems!
