I have to say that Quickboost is rapidly filling the void of resin details for many classic models; in this case, replacement gun packs for the Monogram 1/48 B-26 Marauder. The Marauder is one of those cool looking aircraft that begs for more detail than even Monogram provides. Unfortunately the very prominent gunpacks have mold lines and unjacketed barrels, which detracts from the model.

At first glance this set is not all that exciting; after all it is just four blisters and four barrels. Heck any good modeler can upgrade the kit parts. So after cleaning up the seams of the kit parts, you look to replace the smooth kit barrels. You can raid your spares box or another kit, luck out and find one of those scarce Karaya made barrels or roll your own from the Eduard set (let see if you can get it round!). My attitude changed when I started photographing the parts for this review; that is when the detail Quickboost put into these castings jumped out. The barrels are perfectly and uniformly dimpled, and the end drilled. The barrel actually recesses into the blister and has a crisply molded shell chute. The resin is durable and smooth enough for a natural metal finish. The parts are designed to snap right into the Monogram fuselage. Removing the packs from the casting block will take some care, but if done right will not more the finish. I wonder about the barrel angle, I believe it needs more outward angle based on the pictures I have. Still this set is a jewel and for the price, a no-brainer. Quickboost once again to the rescue!
