Those of you who read my reviews already know that my major builds are in 1/35 scale armor. My main interest is in the Middle East wars and the vehicles that fought in them. This item is of particular interest to me.

During September and December of 1948, the Israelis ferried 18 Spitfire Mark IX's from Czechoslovakia to Israel via Yugoslavia. This long air flight was accomplished by use of Slipper tanks and Luftwaffe style 300 liter belly tanks that came from their Avia S-199's. These tanks were modified and mounted under the wings. The planes were stripped of all armament and radio equipment. The removal of the radio equipment allowed the installation of an additional fuel tank in its place. These planes were required to land in Podgorica, Yugoslavia. While there for about six days they were serviced and the Star of David was applied. This timeframe has been the idea for a build or diorama I have had for some time. With the release of these slipper tanks, it is coming closer to application.

Quickboost has a number of different resin upgrades for aircraft. You can find their products at www.quickboost.net . They have a number of different style slipper tanks for the Spitfires. Most are manufacturer specific. The one I am reviewing is for the Hasegawa or Revell Mark IX. Unfortunately, all my spitfires are Hobbycraft, Tamiya and ICM. I am currently looking to purchase a Hasegawa kit.

This is a great hollow cast piece of resin. There is a small pour plug to remove and a small area to cut out that fits over the air scoop. I would like to thank Quickboost and IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this sample and show me another neat resin manufacturer of high quality after market supplies.
