MSRP: $8.95 Two 1/72 resin engines, recommended for Academy kits. Aires from the Czech Republic has quickly established a line of excellent resin accessories under the Quickboost brand. They are produced in the same high standard in each of the major scales. This sample is 1/72 scale, in medium grey, flash free resin and easily separates from its plug. New replacement cowlings are also available. The photo compares the Academy Catalina kit engines with Quickboosts. The kit parts are a much lighter grey and offer acceptable detail. The difference between the two is impressive and obvious. The cooling fins on the cylinders and the crankcase detail are so much finer than Academy's. The purists will have to add his own pushrods and ignition wiring, but the casual modeler will be happy with these excellent one piece replacements 'as is.' The Catalina's engines are prominently displayed the way the aircraft was designed, and these Quickboost engines are real attention getters. Quickboost parts come in resealable clear plastic packaging which makes it easy to store, protect and find them when you need them.
