These went on my still-a-work-in-progress Model News A-36A Apache. These resin exhausts are light-years better than the parts that came in the Model News box, both in shape and in detail. There are even neat, oval-shaped depressions on the ends of the pipes for a "drilled-out" look. The resin is completely bubbleless; the parts quality impresses me a great deal.

I cleaned out a little flash between the pipes (there wasn't much) with a knife, then painted the parts on the sprue block using ordinary Testors Flat Brown enamel. After about an afternoon or so drying, I scored under the part a couple passes and carefully folded the parts off the sprue. I put each bank of exhaust pipes in the grip of a mini spring clamp so I could file down the excess from where the part met the sprue, then test-fit the banks to the fuselage. On the Academy kit, I'm sure it fits perfectly, but on my MN kit, it was a little long, so I trimmed a smidgen off the back of the manifold underneath the last pipe. It was probably less than a millimeter. I used Ambroid tube cement to attach the parts.

The task of adding the exhausts was the easiest part of this build so far. That and writing about it.

Thanks to Quickboost, John Noack, and IPMS/USA for my sample.
