Quickboost is a line of resin parts that are designed to improve or correct plastic model kit details. They are produced by Aires of the Czech Republic and cater to those modelers who want their models to be just a little bit more accurate.

[review image] When I first looked at these parts in their package, I thought that I had to remove an exterior panel on the Hasegawa kit and replace it with the new one. The pipes were well detailed but I was concerned that this surgery might cause more damage than it would fix. Then I looked at the Hasegawa kit. Their pipes didn't look too bad, maybe needing some drilling to open the pipe but they are basically ok, see photo 2. I also looked for panel lines that needed to be cut out and was confused. Nothing was apparent.

[review image] At this point, I opened the package and looked at the directions. Quickboost intend for their parts to be mounted inside the fuselage with the pipes sticking through the hole that will result when the modeler grinds away the lump on the inside of the Hasegawa fuselage. After grinding to remove the lump and adding a few quick cuts with an Exacto knife, the exhaust opening in the fuselage was clear. The Quickboost parts mount to the inside and the pipes extend through in all their glory. The resin parts include the subtle but noticeable features that look like hose clamps and they really improve the appearance of the model. The modeler might want to thin the edges of the pipes for slightly better appearance but these parts make a noticeable difference.

[review image] I was very impressed with the engineering of these parts and the accurate little details. I was further impressed that Quickboost have gone to the effort to make different parts for the TBF-1C and TBM-3 models. The -3 is slightly longer but this is really splitting hairs.

These parts are well recommended for anyone building the Hasegawa Avenger. The skills required to perform the modifications to the kit are not complex.

A big thanks to Quickboost for providing these samples.
