I used Quickboost's offering to replace the seat supplied in my older Hasegawa F/A-18C kit. My sample had a broken edge---probably caused by its transit in the mail---I re-attached that piece with CA, removed the pour stub on the bottom of the seat with a razor saw, and painted the dark gray resin according to the instructions supplied.

Photo #1 shows the unpainted Quickboost seat next to the Hasegawa kit's (can you say "quantum leaps ahead"?). Photo #2 shows it after painting.

The Quickboost seat is smaller than the one supplied in the kit and when I put it in the cockpit of my Hornet, it looked too short, at least to my eye. One of the notable features of the F/A-18 is how high the pilot sits and the seat's head box is pretty prominent up there. I used a spacer of plastic glued to the bottom of the Quickboost seat to make it sit higher. Photo #3 (below) shows the finished product in the cockpit of my F/A-18C model. Pretty cool, huh?

At this writing, I haven't seen the just-released Academy F/A-18C kit to know how its seat stacks up, but boy, the Quickboost seat is really well detailed and dresses up the cockpit of this older kit with a flourish. Highly recommended to modelers of all ages and abilities.

Thanks to IPMS/USA and to Aires/Quickboost for the opportunity to review this fine little detail.
