We have been blessed with good kits of the Mk I Spitfire from Tamiya and most recently the Airfix kit. Both kits could use a little help with the seat. That is where Ultracast comes in. Both of these seats are flawlessly cast in cream colored resin that is bubble and blemish free. The real question is how you like to do your seats? I prefer to have the seat harness molded on. If you are like me then you will want seat 48199 which has a very realistic looking harness hanging over the seat bucket. If you prefer no harness or to use a photo etch replacement then 48198 is for you. It has all the things that the harness seat has but no harness. Funny how that works. The seat can easily be removed from the resin pour block with a couple of swipes of an X-acto blade and a sanding stick and they are ready for paint and mounting. Another thing that you will want to use for your early Spitfire is the Weybridge 2-blade prop. The Weybridge prop was used on Spitfire Mk Is K9787 to K9863. As far as I know this is the first time it has been available. The packaging says it is designed for the Tamiya kit, however, it will fit the Airfix kit just fine. Molded with the same cream colored resin as the seats this flawless prop catches the proper blade angle and shape perfectly. The only thing you will need to clean up on this one is a very small amount of excess resin on the back of the prop hub and put it on. All these parts will add to your Mk I Spitfire and are far superior to the kit parts. In the case of the prop this is the first time it has been offered.
