[review image] This is what Tamiya had to say about the cargo truck: "The German army in WWII used a wide variety of wheeled vehicles as part of their overall strategy of fast mechanized warfare. Among the most widely used was the 3Ton 4x2 Cargo Truck, a truck design that was first produced in the 1930s. Featuring a dependable 6-cylinder gasoline engine, the 3Ton 4x2 Cargo Truck could take on a very large payload disproportionate to its size. They proved to be not only extremely reliable, but also very versatile, and were employed in a wide variety of roles, including fuel truck, ambulance, radio truck, as well as general-purpose cargo truck."

My first impression upon receiving this kit was it's a diorama dream come true. Since this vehicle appeared in every theatre of WW2 how could you go wrong? The build is simplicity itself and is a realistic long weekend project.

Assembly is done in three sections, the cab, the chassis and the bed. There are no major issues with fit which is a Tamiya trademark. While one section sets up the other sections can be started. I initially thought I could recommend this as a beginner's kit but because of some very fragile parts (the door frames and mirrors) and some very tiny parts (trim pieces) I'd recommend a little experience or at least intermediate supervision.

[review image] Two uniformed seated figures are offered as well as decals for four different WW2 theatres and allow a gray or sand finish. Two sprues of cargo including fuel and water drums and jerry cans are included. Super detailing is going to require some ingenuity. The kit does not include an engine and the cab interior is very basic but as the Aftermarket catches up and the AMS kicks in anything is possible.

With a small amount of experience this kit will build into a fine example of the German cargo truck and as such I give it my highest recommendation. I would like to thank Tamiya and IPMS for providing this kit and allowing me to complete this review.
