MSRP: $33 Web site: www.tamiya.com One of my favorite 1/35 scale model kits is the 2-1/2 Ton 6x6 Cargo Truck. When I saw this kit in 1:48 scale, I had to buy it. I can tell you up front, it is every bit as good. This kit lacks the engine of it’s big brother but, other than that, everything is there. Construction can be broken down into three subassemblies. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The first subassembly is the cab. You get a steering wheel, gear shift and other controls, a driver, and a canvas top. There are clear lenses for the headlights, a decal for the instruments and two rifle racks with rifles. The windshield and frame are one piece moldings in clear plastic.

The chassis is complete and well detailed. Everything fits as it should and looks great. The wheels and tires are one-piece units. The main chassis is a metal part, necessitating the use of super glue. The truck bed goes together with no problems. The instructions show the troop seats in the folded position. The tarp supports are also molded as one piece and are glued in the stowed configuration. The subassemblies are put together with the provided small screws. I painted the model with Tamiya acrylic paint, Olive Drab and Khaki Drab for the seats and top. I used my usual Polly Scale Grimy Black for the tires. The decals went on fine over a coat of Future followed by just a touch of Micro Set. This is a very nice kit and produces a jewel of a model. I highly recommend it to anyone who can handle the super glue and screw assembly steps. My review sample was provided by my credit card.
