Rhino Mark IIc

Reviewed By Mark Aldrich, #39295

This is the second generation of Rhino for the Warhammer 40,000 game system.  For those not in the know, Warhammer 40,000 is a board game similar to D&D.  When it evolved to figures I fell in love.  Here were printable Armies of soldiers and vehicles that actually painted themselves, the vehicles and equipment in bright gaudy colors.  I was in heaven.  I could still build tanks and not have to paint them in the same old greens, sands, browns, and reds.  What a neat idea.

The Rhino is to Warhammer as the M113 is to the Israelis’.  Not only is it an APC, it has been heavily modified by the warring clans to be a demolition vehicle, rocket launcher, and anti tank killer.

Like all Games Workshop models, the kit comes in a beautifully packages box showing the vehicle on the surface of some dark world.  The box art on almost all their kits is superb.  On the back you get a sample painting guide for three basic clan vehicles.

Inside you get three sprues containing 66 pieces of VERY soft plastic and two beautiful decal sheets.  What?  No instructions?  How do they expect you to assemble this?  Fear not; it is a relatively simple kit and the instructions are printed on the bottom half of the inner box.

I have built numerous kits from this company and the only complaint I have ever had is that the plastic is really soft.  I think they would make more money using a stronger plastic in their kits.

If you are a dedicated tread head and need a really neat break but want to still build an armor kit, you should check these babies out.  They have a wide assortment of vehicles, figures, and diorama accessories.  You can find them at any well equipped gaming store, EBAY, through the internet, and at www.games-workshop.com and you can also check out their other Warhammer 40K stuff.
