As a follow-on to my review of Pacer Adhesives' ZAP series of cyanoacrylate adhesives, I also had the opportunity to check out this ingenious product, also carried by FTE.  The Disk'It System at first looks similar to the various sanding disks for motor tools that you'll find on a rack in your hobby shop or hardware store, but with a twist (pardon the pun).  The sanding disks are attached to the steel mandrel with a mechanical lock that rigidly holds the disk in place during operation, but hold the (stationary) mandrel and twist the disk 1/4 turn and it pops off.  If you're moving between various grits, it's a lot easier to remove and replace a disk than to shut down and un-chuck the whole mandrel.  Plus, instead of paying for a disk and mandrel each time, worn-out disks can be replaced at a much lower cost.

The cutting surface of the disk is a very high quality abrasive, which sheds the waste material cleanly and lasts through many modeling sessions.  A couple of usage and safety tips:  It's a lot easier to remove material than to put it back, so if you're not sure what disk to use, start with the finer grits and work down to the coarser ones.  Secondly, and I hate to sound like Safety Sam, but it's the voice of experience talking - make sure you've shut the power off to the tool while you're changing any bit.  I have a foot switch for my Dremel and my toes had a mind of their own one day.  It's no fun wrestling with a hand piece that's suddenly come to life while you're holding the chuck end of it!
