We're all familiar with the Dremel name, and I would venture that most of those reading this review have at least one, and probably more of their products in, on or under the workbench (my confession: Two corded Rotary Tools, one battery powered unit, a scroll saw, numerous accessories, and now this great little tool…OK, I feel better already…).

The model 2500 Multi-Vise is an ingenious tool measuring about 20 inches overall. Included in the kit are the base unit, which clamps to any hard surface up to 2 1/2" in depth; a movable upright bar clamp, a slide bar, and two vise jaws. Also included is an adapter that replaces the slide bar clamp and by use of a large nut, holds any one of the late-model Dremel rotary tools (specifically, models 275, 285, 395, 300 series, 398, 400 series, 780 and 800) in any position needed. If you've ever run into one of those situations where you needed three hands to grind the part, hold the tool, hold the part, and aim - all at the same time - you'll appreciate this feature.

Other neat things about the Multi-Vise? Well, it comes with soft, slip-on jaw faces with molded-in grooves to securely yet safely hold a part. Between the lateral movement possible in the slide bar assembly and the ability to rotate the entire unit 360 degrees horizontally and almost 180 degrees vertically, just about any part or tool orientation is possible. [review image] The slide bar unit can be removed from the base and used as a stand-alone bar clamp. The fixed jaw of the vise unit incorporates a dovetail feature that allows the use of other Dremel tools with matching dovetail adapters (FlexLite™ and Magnifier Light among them). Despite having some plastic parts, the entire unit is rugged, looks to be easily disassembled for cleaning and lubrication, and carries a two-year parts/workmanship warranty.

Thanks to the great folks at Dremel, and to Hannah Schroder at JSHA who handles marketing for Dremel, for the opportunity to review this fine product.
