I remember in 1986 watching and hearing news reports of how F-111’s flew from England, around Europe, and then over the ocean to make strikes on Libya’s soil against Terror camps. I was working at Grumman Aerospace on an A6 Intruder upgrade at the time, but existing A6E’s were also a part of the Libyan missions. The Long Range F-111’s of the 48th Tactical Fighter Wing operated out of RAF Lakenheath, England. This decal package is ideal if you wish to build a replica of the strike F-111F aircraft in 1/48th scale.

This is not your ordinary decal package! The sheet is a large eight by ten inches, along with another four by four inch sheet. Before you decide to duplicate one of these aircraft that ran the ‘El Dorado Canyon Mission’ in Libya, match up the BuNo, call sign, Squadron, and tail flash color on the Identification Chart given, then refer to the Load out Chart which specifies what was carried on that particular aircraft’s weapon stations. As an added feature, there is a Load out Chart for each aircraft used in Desert Storm. The printed material included is overwhelming and extremely complete with 14 color profile aircraft in landscape format. Afterburner Decals did all the research for you.

There are enough decals in here for you to build two models. Four views of the aircraft show all the stenciling from tip to tail. I don’t think they missed a stencil. The decals are exquisitely done. No flash edges and the registrations are on target down to the smallest decal! Any 'Vark lover who sees this sheet should feel the urge to build an F-111F with these decals. As with all waterslide decals, careful apply the larger decals into position. They are very thin and can curl easily if you attempt to slide them around.

There is a lot in this zip-lock bag for the $20.00 purchase from Afterburner Decals. The release of the Hobby Boss F-111F in 1/48th scale is a perfect marriage to these decals, and are highly recommended. No F-111F kits should be without these decals!

Thank you, Afterburner, for the review package.
