Background

This decal set covers the Block 30 F-16Cs from the 527th Aggressors based at RAF Bentwaters in the late 80s, which provided dissimilar air combat training for NATO pilots using Soviet tactics. Until 1988 the Aggressors flew F-5Es when they were reassigned to Bentwaters, England and transitioned to F-16Cs.

Details

Afterburner Decals certainly did their homework on these decals. There are three sheets of paper references. Any of the six of twelve aircraft flown in this squadron can be duplicated using the two sheets of color profiles. Federal Standard Colors are provided for the paint scheme which are all the same.

The waterslide decals depicted here are for the F-16s between 1988 and 1990 for the Tamiya 1/48 scale F16 C/N kit because the F-16Cs had the small NSI intake mouth and offers this small mouth as an option.

My images show the sheet they provide of the Block 30/32 aircraft affected by this alternate engine project. The flip side of this sheet has all the stencil markings of the four views of the aircraft. Details about using the Tamiya kit are included on the instruction sheet.

Review

The decal sheets are all about quality, and you have it here with Afterburner Decals. I do not see one glaring edge on any decal. No trimming is necessary; the registration is very tight, clean and thin. As with any thin decal, be very careful applying any solvent to soften up these decals. The $15.00 price tag may seem steep, but they are quality all around. If you want to build an F-16 Aggressor bird, these decals should be strongly considered.

Thank you, Afterburner Decals, for providing the sample sheet for review.
