The B-24 was used extensively by Commonwealth forces in the anti-submarine role, and this sheet form Aviaeology, a Canadian company, provides decals and extensive details for the specially-modified Liberators used by the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII.

The sheet is intended to be used in conjunction with Belcher Bits Liberator GR.V conversion sets for your B-24D models in either 1/72 or 1/48 scales. It is obvious that extensive research has gone into this project, and full details of each featured aircraft are included. These options are:
  • Liberator GR.V 586/A, 10 (BR) Squadron RCAF, Gander, 1943.
  • Liberator GR.V 595/X, 10 (BR) Squadron RCAF, Gander, 1943.
  • Liberator GR.V 600/N, 10 (BR) Squadron RCAF, Gander, 1943.
  • Liberator GR.V 600/N, 10 (BR) Squadron RCAF, Gander, 1945 - this option features some nice nose art.
  • Liberator GR.V BZ792/G, 224 Squadron RAF, St. Eval, 1944.
The decals are very well printed and feature a minimum of varnish, so there is no trimming involved. The fuselage roundels have separate red centers to aid in alignment. A full set of stenciling is included in both scales.

According to Aviaeology, these decals are compatible with the Micro/SuperScale systems and also with Solvaset, though I would advise testing first, as Solvaset is much stronger than the others.

For anyone contemplating a non-US Liberator, these decals will provide great inspiration, and at a very reasonable price. On that basis, I can recommend them.

Many thanks to the good folks at Aviaeology for the review samples.
