Released during the IPMSUSA 2009 nationals, this correction set is designed to correct outline and dihedral issues with the otherwise solid Airfix Canberra series. Securely packed in a small clear box, you get a total of six (6) resin parts: two replacement horizontal stabilizers with separate elevators, a replacement rudder and a new fin fillet. My review copy did not have the complete instruction sheet which is forthcoming from Two Mikes, but did come with a color set of reference pictures. More complete instructions can be obtained via their website - including instructions on how to build an alignment tool to set the tail dihedral.

[review image] The parts were crisply cast with only a few minor blemishes and some pinholes at the trailing edges. They cleaned up easily after removal of the pour stubs. The only fiddly clean up area was the pour stubs on the horizontal stabilizers - the stubs are connected to the trailing edge of the pieces, right where the part is concave to accept the elevator. Careful use of my dremel stylus with a small round cutting bit made short work of the clean-up and then I found that the elevators matched up perfectly with a snug fit into the corresponding groove.

[review image] The set does require some significant surgery to the base kit. Removing the mounting stubs on the fuselage for the stabilizers was tricky as you want to remove them without damaging the contour of the fuselage. After doing so I found that the resin parts mated up with the fuselage very well, aligning themselves to the proper angles with a minimum of effort. Fitting the fin fillet also required some plastic removal. Unfortunately, I was a bit over-enthusiastic and cut too much off - there is a bit of step left for me to clean up. I probably could have achieved an exact fit if I was more conservative with the saw! Finally, given the fictional panel lines on the kit rudder (it could take a tube of putty to fill), the Two Mikes replacement is a real time saver and a drop fit to boot.

Overall I fully recommend this correction set for the research behind it and the ease of use. A well done set for a reasonable price given the size of the pieces. My thanks to Two Mikes for the review sample.
