1/48 SC-19 ASAT Missile For any F15A kit

MSRP: $17.00 Website: www.twomikesresin.com This resin kit is for use with either the Hasegawa or Revell 1/48 F-15A kit, but may be used with any 1/48 F-15A model kit. The kit comes well packaged in its own hinged plastic box wrapped in plastic. A single sided color page of five photographs and brief description of the missile is also included. The two major components are the single piece pylon and the missile body. The fins are cast separately on two small pour strips. The pour strips are very thin and make it easy to clean up. You are tempted to just snap them off, but use a saw to avoid damaging the fine detail and smaller parts. The quality of the casting is very good with fine surface detail of mostly recessed panel lines with some raised detail on the pylon. My sample had one small bubble that needed to be filled on the pylon. I used Apoxie Paste and sanded it smooth with no loss of detail. Some light sanding was also needed to improve the thickness of the attached top fin and clean up the pour seam. An addendum is included in the kit explaining the marking for the missile mounting pin location was omitted. Directions for the hole location are given, but no drill size. You will need to measure the pin size to choose the correct drill. I used a 7/64 inch bit, but it was a little loose. I believe a 2.5mm would have been a better fit. Photos are included of a prototype inert missile. There are no decals included with the kit, but a beautiful and complete sheet is available from Two Bobs that includes markings for two test program F-15’s and both the inert and operational examples of the ASAT. The decal instruction sheet also has painting instructions for an operational missile which I used to finish my example. I primed my kit with a lacquer based gray primer and painted it with a combination of Vallejo and Alclad II paints. After decaling and weathering, the kit was finished with Testors semi-gloss lacquer. TwoMikes SC-19 Anti-Satellite missile is an excellent example of the resin casters art with few blemishes and excellent detail, right down to the exhaust nozzle.
