MSRP: $23.95 Website: www.aires.cz Aires has released a well detailed upgrade for the Airfix 1/48 Canberra to address the simplified kit wheel wells. With only 9 resin parts, this set provides a relatively simply way to significantly improve your Canberra. As you can see from the pictures, the features are crisply defined and are much more detailed than what is provided out of the box. Assembly was straight forward as the resin is designed to be a 1 for 1 replacement of the kit parts. The nose wheel well area was the only spot on the kit that needed any thinning. I waited until the fuselage halves were glued together and then slid the wheel well in through the bomb bay in order to get the best fit. The main wells were a cinch, fitting perfectly with no kit modifications necessary (although you will need to remove the pour plugs on the resin wells).

I painted the wheel wells with Citadel Miniatures Chainmail and highlighted some areas with Mithrial Silver (don't you love Games Workshops paint colors?). A wash of Tamiya smoke and brown was applied to bring out the details and show off the sharp relief of the resin. All in all a very easy upgrade that really adds to the detail level of the Canberra.
