I just finished a basic out-of box build of the Revell JU-88 for Ponch at Freedom Hobbies in Norman Oklahoma. I noted this kit took quite a bit of my time to build; it’s that detailed… having said that, there are a few areas which need to improved. One of these is the instrument panel. It requires some form of decals or superdetail work if the panel is to be built "as is". Enter our friends at Eduard and their color photo-etch sets…

The Eduard self-adhesive (SA) interior series makes a huge difference on any finished model. As many have noted on other modeling sites, there is no way anyone could hand-paint the existing kit cockpit interior and get the same results. The instruments are readable under magnification, and the color details are truly magnificent. The Eduard set includes the main instrument panel and compass details:

The bombsight is also improved with placards and adjustment wheels:

I hate the overused term "awesome", but will succumb to "awe-inspiring" for what Eduard have done in this case! One evening of parts preparation and installation, and you have almost a perfect cockpit. I happen to have a set of Eduard 1/32 German seatbelts which will make up for the lack of harnesses on the kit seats, but these are not part of this review. I know they will work from past experience!

The Quickboost ammunition boxes are a simple "paint, remove from the pour stub, and glue in place" addition. I would have never thought of improving the kit items; yet, Quickboost provides excellent details over and above that represented on the basic kit items, as you can see when placed next to the kit ammunition boxes

Painted, they provide even more depth to the cockpit ammunition racks:

All-in-all, both provide "must have" details for the cockpit of Revell’s excellent 1/32 JU88A-1. All I need to do now is source the Quickboost exhaust upgrades and some other missing details for the aircraft (ESC racks, maybe from Jerry Rutman’s stable) and I’ll be able to complete this beast. Extreme thanks go to Eduard and Quickboost for providing these items to IPMS/USA for review. Both of these companies are supporting us in a major way and I sincerely appreciate not only their support, but the products they provide for modelers.
