[review image] The newest upgrade set for the new Eduard 1/32nd Bf-109E is available from, well, Eduard. Known for their excellent photo etch and beautiful kits, this is the first venture into the ‘aftermarket’ realm. The Jabo version of the Bf-109 is a very influential aircraft taking part in the raids against England and being used in Russia, as well as, in Greece and Yugoslavia.

The set is packaged in shrink wrap, without a box, which helps keep the costs very low. You get a sprue of 16 pieces of flash free plastic molded into Eduard’s RLM 02 plastic. A fret of photo etch is included for the bomb fins and some various details. The instructions are included and are easy to understand.

The plastic pieces include two types of bomb racks including the ETC 50/ VIId and an ETC 500. Of course what would the racks be without the bombs themselves? You get four 50 kg bombs and one 500 kg bomb. What is nicely done is that there are photo etch fins for the bombs and on top of that the instructions to make the whistles often attached to the tail fins.

While this set is designed for the Eduard Bf-109 E set these racks, especially the ETC 50 can be used on the F and early G models as well.

The Jabo carried some very colorful markings so now it is up to the aftermarket guys to come out with some more decals.

I commend Eduard for releasing this set as a separate sprue. Some will wonder why it wasn’t included in the box originally. It had the benefit of keeping the cost of the original kit down and allowing the modelers who wanted to do a Jabo to realize that version for just a few dollars more.

I was unable to use this set on my Eduard E-4 because of the decals I had to review, however, a quick check of the fit showed no problems with the ETC 50 rack.

Highly Recommended. Thanks to Eduard for the review copy.
