Cockpit
Exterior, Bomb Bay, and finished product

First, extreme thanks go to Eduard for providing IPMS USA these sets. I cannot think of anyone who does photoetch better than they do, and these sets are what I have been waiting for to finish up my B-24 builds.

These are relatively simple sets to use; a lot of cutting and folding, and you have seriously detailed B-24 interiors. Like the cockpit sets before them, the color photoetch makes quite a difference. Included are bomb toggle panels, basic instrument panels, and a lot of the suit heater rheostats and oxygen regulator boxes. Also included are detailed ammunition guide rails, basic .50 caliber ammunition, and gun barrel jackets. The former are extremely petite, and I have to confess I have not mastered the art of annealing metal, and rolling out gun barrels around wire forms and having them look good when done. Included in the aft fuselage set are panels designed to detail the .50 cal weapons. These are very fine, and will go far toward improving the kit items. I have a bunch of Koster and Cutting edge .50 cal weapons, so I opted to not use the Eduard gun details on this build. The interior upgrade was what I was looking for.

Both forward and aft sections have various flooring and armor plating panels to replace the kit items; they look great when completed. Same for the ammunition boxes; fold and glue carefully, and you have excellent replacement items. The lower ball turret ammo boxes are a plus and add a lot to the overall look of the finished area. I did not paint the aft areas so you could see the multiple layer PE effect on the parts.

Two things I have not installed: a radio rack and radios that goes in the aft fuselage, and the nose turret framing; these frames include the gunsight and mount… I shall be using these later in the build, as it’s a major effort up to this point and I am nowhere near finishing!

Overall, a 10 of 10 on upgrade sets; Eduard continues to produce the best.
