The Hasegawa kit of the 1/48th scale F1M Pete is a was a welcome release and is a great kit of an interesting (at least to me) plane from WWII. That being said, Eduard uses their excellent skills and has now released a photo-etched set for the kit that is comprised of two sheets- one of standard metal and one preprinted. Let's take a look at what areas Eduard addresses in its sheets. Naturally, the cockpit is addressed. There are replacements for the pedals, linkages, wiring and throttles. All of the instrument panels are replaced with color PE and film backing. A complete set of seatbelts as well as radio parts and miscellaneous other pieces are included. Various small wing and tail parts are addressed with all new metal hinges and specific access plates. The same goes for the float with relief-etched panels being done. Detail parts are also added to the gun and weapons. Lastly, the lines on the engine are addressed and can be installed to give that little added detail you need to compete in the next contest or just to spruce it up for yourself. The kit is lovely and the photo-etch is great. Highly recommended. My thanks to Jan and the people at Eduard for their efforts and for the review sample.
