The CH-46 was a tandem rotor helicopter used by the Marines since its inception during Vietnam. As with any aircraft the CH-46 went through various upgrades while in combat. The Early E/ F model was the version that the Marines finished Vietnam with. Up until now you couldn't build one from the Academy CH-46A/D and the CH-46E was did not contain all the parts kits unless you did a lot of scratch building. If you are like me then you would rather build than scratch build.

The latest resin offering from MAW Decals is molded in 14 pieces of light caramel resin and one small decal sheet. The resin is blemish free and beautifully cast. The biggest part of the resin is the engine inlets with its molded on inlet screens and the exhausts. In addition to this are the armor panels for the pilots and the flare/chaff dispensers. The chaff dispensers can be used on a number of Marine Corps helicopters. I really liked the decals which allow you to pose the dispenser with various types of chaff or flares.

The instruction sheet is pretty easy to understand with which kit to use if you want metal blades or composite blades. It also points out the differences for the early E versus F model. All the parts are aligned with panel lines or just scab on the outside so this conversion/upgrade is very easy to use.

If you have never built a resin conversion and you like helicopters then this would make an ideal first time.

Highly recommended.
