MSRP: $6.50 Website: www.quickboost.net Quickboost came on the scene a few years ago offering modelers a range of simple resin update and detail sets. These sets contained only one or two items focusing on a specific area of the kit, such as an ejection seat, exhausts, or engine. This allowed the modeler to pick and choose what resin they desired for their project without having to break the bank over an entire detail set. This set provides some resin replacement exhausts for the Hasegawa 1/48 Bf109 G-6 kit. The parts come on a single block of dark grey resin. Looking them over, they are beautifully cast, and feature both the weld bead and hollowed out ends. The kit parts, though having the same weld bead, are not hollowed out. So this set will save you tons of time having to drill those out and then carefully carve the holes to a oblong shape. I recommend painting them right on the resin plug, which is what I did. A coat of dark brown, then some dry-brushing of a rust color, followed by a black wash finished them off. They can then be carefully cut from the thin resin gate with a sharp blade, or a razor saw. Installation into the fuselage is a drop fit, and direct replacement for the kit parts so no fuss there. Installed, they add a nice bit of detail to this area. Between the value and ease of use, I highly recommend this set for anybody that wants to spruce up their 109 G kit. My thanks to Quickboost for the review sample.
