Quickboost know their Mig-21's; providing us with new correct stabilizers to replace the Fujimi’s kit parts. When you place the two side by side, you are struck by the difference in the trailing edge sweep angle and the differences in the pods at the stabilizers ends. Checking some drawings that I have, and comparing pictures, I would have to say that Quickboost are spot on.

To update the stabilizers Quickboost provide us with four parts. The main stabilizer bodies were cast in a cream color resin, while the aft sections were cast in a light grey resin with panel lines that are lightly scribed. The set’s drawings clearly show the parts and the darken areas that have to be removed. To remove the parts I used the back side of a new #11 exacto blade and lightly scribed along the areas I wanted to remove.

On the main stabilizers (part 2), I removed the thin strip at the stabilizer base and then worked on the trailing edge. Using the same method I removed the stabilizer bases (part 1) from their casting block. These pieces (part 1) are keyed to fit into the base of the stabilizer (part 2) forming the completed stabilizer, which can then be placed into slots in the Fujimi fuselage. The resulting stabilizers have the correct length, width and angles of the real ones.

I highly recommend this product if you want the correct look on your Mig-21.

I want to thank IPMS/USA and Quickboost for the opportunity to review that product.
