Quickboost just keeps adding to their great line of quality resin aircraft accessories. The latest addition is for the Academy P-40E Warhawk. I’m used to the Quickboost resin usually being grey but this set is molded in white resin. Other then that, they are up to their usual standards, smooth, seamless and bubble free. One thing of note is that they are really easy to remove from the mold block because of a nice perforation. It only took me a couple of light passes with my saw blade to make them fall away instead of launching into oblivion never to be seen again. Another plus is that the gun barrels are bored out which would be a real pain if you tried to do it on the kit part.

[review image] The guns that come pre molded on the Academy kit’s wings really aren’t all that bad and would make for an acceptable model, especially in 1/72 scale, but I do think that the Quickboost gun barrels are superior. I taped the wings together and cut off the molded barrels with a hobby saw, and then I had to cut the mold marks out from the inside of the wing. I also had to bore out the holes for the barrels because they are only bored on half of the wing. To do this I retaped the wings together and then drilled out the holes. The Quickboost barrels seemed a little thick and took some work to get the holes bored out wide enough. I also needed a little bit of putty for the wing seam. In the end I was happy with the result.

I highly recommend this product if you want a really superior looking model. Just remember that these are not just drop in accessories and do require a little extra work to install.

Thanks to Quickboost and IPMS USA for the chance to do this review.
