When I bought the Airfix 1/72 Spitfire Mk IXc I was pleased with the overall shape and crispness of detail, but I was mildly disappointed that it only came with one choice of rudder. The narrow chord type of rudder is molded in place on one of the fuselage halves. Luckily Quickboost has provided me with the wide chord pointed rudder found on many later models of the Spitfire Mk IX. Now it is not only possible to to build late Mk IX but you can also convert the Airfix kit into Mk VII, VIII and PR XI using this new wide chord rudder.

[review image] As you can see in the photos the rudder is a perfect fit. The moldings are clean and free of any blemish or air bubbles and the wafer thin attachment point makes quick work of removing the rudder from the casting block. You do not have to be an expert in conversion work to use this part, this would be ideal for your first try. I recommend this new Quickboost set as it is up to the standards we have been accustomed to. I will be getting more of these wide chord rudders in the future.

Thanks to Quickboost and to IPMS/USA for the opportunity to review this sample.
