Terry Dean is well known for his nose weights, which are the best available, but now he has decided to branch out to resin. His first offerings are designed for the classic and venerable Monogram P-61 kit.

As designed the kit has one engine cowl flap opened up and one closed, the closed one is on the exposed engine. Closed cowl flaps are not realistic for an air-cooled engine on the ground. Terry provides you with either a new cowling with opened cowl flaps and a new enclosed engine or you can use the kit engine with a new open cowling. Either way you will get a firewall, depending on which set you purchase you will get one that allows you to use the Terry Dean enclosed engine or the exposed kit engine.

Molded in white resin, my examples were blemish and bubble free. There are no instructions, but the correction is simple enough. Simply remove part of the boom and add the new firewall to correspond to how you want to show your engine, add the engine and cowling and you are done.

Terry also has a corrected gun cover which is more accurate for a South Pacific combat theater. This one is even easier to install, flat sand the base and simply substitute the new part for the kit part and paint, done.

These sets are essential for your Monogram P-61. They address the kit's shortcomings and are inexpensive, but best of all they are easy to install. They are an ideal first resin set for the beginner. I can't wait to see what he comes out with next.

Highly recommended.

Thanks to Terry Dean for the review copies. You can obtain your copies only directly from him at nightiemission@aol.com. Tell him you heard about it here.

While you're contacting him ask him about his nose weights. I picked up a P-61 one and it cost just $2.25. You won't be able to show the radar with the weight installed but at least the kit won't sit on the tails. Also highly recommended.
