In the past few years armor modeling has been blessed with many innovations such as slide-molding and reissued kits featuring new added sprues and completely new kits from Tamiya and Dragon and the new boys, Trumpeter.  If ever there was a Golden Age of Modeling, this is it.  Several kits feature "Smart Track" and enables the Modeler to go no further than the model purchase to build a first class replica of any chosen item or version.

One of the most neglected era's, until now, was early German armor from the Polish, French and Barbarossa Campaigns. This newest Concord Books helps the modeler with schemes, settings and in the field modifications such as scratch built racks for stowage and Jerry cans.

After reading this book, I found that most of the information that I needed to build one of these little jewels was found right here. Light Panzers At War covers all the small Panzers from the Panzer I, Panzer II, Lynx and the Czech Series 38T chassis.  There are sixteen wonderful color plates that illustrate the Light Panzers in camouflage, grey and whitewash settings. Some pictures even present the modeler with foliage placement and kindling for fires. The seventy-two pages are filled with some stunning pictures of maintenance, combat and stationary units. The pictures are of high quality and very helpful to the modelers for any type of settings and modes. I can't recommend this book high enough. If you are going to start that early Panzer, you need this.

Many Thanks to IPMS/USA and Dragon Models US and Concord Books for this review sample.
