This publication is a softcover magazine containing 152 pages and is printed in Japanese. While much is going to be lost without a translation, there is still much that can be enjoyed and extracted from this high-quality magazine. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words and Model Art routinely is filled with exceptional photography.

This issue focuses on the construction of six different 1/48 and 1/72 aircraft models. Each features a myriad of images which include the aftermarket products being used, and the paint being applied. By referring to the photographs, the experienced modeler can determine which colors to apply and how to apply them. For example, the article featuring the A7M2 SAM illustrates how the builder painted the red "no step" line around the flaps and the yellow color on the inner leading edge of the wing. Compared to these sharp demarcation lines, the article on the Ta-152H-0 illustrates the use of a PlayDoh-like substance to obtain a slightly featured edge on the demarcation lines on the camouflage scheme. Even kit corrections are shown in the photographs and are clearly understood by the non-Japanese-speaking viewer. The C.202 has several access panels and bulges that need to be removed. Clear drawings indicate where these details are and a color scheme shows the extent of the surgery required to remove these details.

The six kits featured in this magazine are:
  • Finemolds 1/48 Mitsubishi A7M2 Model 11 "SAM"
  • Tamiya 1/48 Dewoitine D.520
  • Aoshima 1/72 Focke-Wulf Ta152H-0
  • Hasegawa 1/48 Macchi C.202 Folgore
  • Hobbycraft Canada 1/48 F8F-1 Bearcat
  • Eduard 1/48 Spitfire Mk.22/Mk.24
If you are an F-15 Eagle fan, this issue contains something just for you. In four-color images and a series of full color profile drawings a beautifully detailed JASDF F-15 is shown in a white, gray, and black camouflage scheme. This is a magnificent aircraft and the scheme is one of the most interesting I’ve seen for an F-15 in a considerable time.
